JEFF McCOMSEY
Creative & Educator
Hey there! I'm Jeff McComsey, a comic book creator for over 15 years. I've been living the dream—crafting stories and illustrations that keep readers on the edge of their seats. I'm the editor-in-chief of the New York Times best-selling zombie anthology FUBAR, where I get to mix my passion for history with a good dose of zombie action. You might also know me from my other works like Grendel, Kentucky and The Fourth Man—two of my favorite projects that let me dive deep into the gritty, small town crime genre I love.
When I’m not buried under my latest project, you can find me teaching at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, helping the next generation of artists find their voice. I’m based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where I juggle family life and my creative pursuits—usually with an ice coffee in hand.
My artistic philosophy is rooted in the belief that great thumbnails lead to great work. By starting small and getting something—anything—down on paper, I open the door to creativity without the burden of perfectionism. This initial step, however rough, is where the real process begins: ideas spark, evolve, and gain momentum. I find that working on a smaller scale helps to alleviate the anxiety of getting everything perfect from the jump, allowing me to focus on exploration and refinement. By embracing these humble beginnings, I create space for my work to grow into something fully realized.
